You are viewing the overview page of the Topic Breaks step which is part of
the Convert to DITA process. In this step you specify where your document should break into
topics and what topic type to use for the break1. Topic breaks can be
defined at both the template and document level in preview mode using a dialog window:
- Template level - These are style based and can be set for any paragraph style.
- Document level - Documents inherit the topic breaks from the template under which they
are grouped2. You can override a a topic break on any location in the document. For example
you can change a concept topic break into a task.
Notes
1 The topic types supported by default are: topic, concept, task, and
reference. Other topic types or your own can be added to this list. Contact
Stilo to find out how.
2 You also can define both style based topic breaks and local overrides for a
document that is not grouped under a template.
